Boguslavskuy District
Historical background (first mentioning, foundation year, founder)
Boguslavskiy District, a diamond of the south of the Kyiv Regionwas
established on 7 th march 1923. The District occupies an area of 772 km
2, where 41 settlement is situated. Residents of the District are
mainly Ukrainians and the population is 37937 persons at the moment,
including 16,5 th. In the town and 21,4 th in countryside.
District centre Bogyslav, whichi is situated on the banks of r.
Ros, was founded in 1032 by Kyiv knyaz Yaroslav Mudriy. In 208 years
the town was destroyed by Tatar-Mongolian hordes. In 1362
Boguslavshchyna falls under the power of Lithuania. After Liublyn Union
1569 thi territory is occupied by Poland. Despite any trouble the town
was developing and in 1620 Yaroslav received Magdeburg right and a band
represented with green banks, blue rivers with three mountains and
yellow crosses. In the end of XVI century Boguslav had considerable
population for that time. There was 200 houses of petty bourgeois and
400 houses of cossacks.
In 1648 Boguslav, exempted by the forces of Bohdan Khmelnytskiy,
became a town of Bilotserkivskiy regiment. In 1667 the town went to
Poland again. For a short period Boguslav was released by forces under
the command of Semen Paliy and became a regiment town of Boguslavskiy
regiment. But in 27 years the town fell under the Poland power again.
In second half of XVII century Boguslav was bought by polish
gentleman Ian Branitskiy. For that time the population of the town was
1110 persons, including 112 merchants.
In the end of XVIII cent. Boguslav for over 40 years was the
center of volost, and then beacouse of the conflagration in the town,
the centre of the vosost was moved to t. Kaniv.
Soviet power here was established in January 1918, and in 1919 the
town became the centre of Boguslav volost of Kyiv province. From July
1941 to February 1944 the District was occupied by german fascistic
aggressors.
In September 1991 above the building of District Executive Committee and Town Counsil an independent Ukrainian flag was risen.

In the north borders with Muronivskiy District, in the west — with
Rokutnyanskuy and Tarashchanskuy Districts of Kiev oblast, in the east
— with Korsun — Shevchenkivskuy District, in the south — with
Lusnyanskiy District of Cherkassu District.

named among the best libraries of Europe. The book fund of the library
consists of nearly 400 thousands books.
A chapel named after O. Koshutsya is well known outside the District, group “Isaikivski kossaks”.

Economy
Boguslavskiy district is agro-industrial. Agricultural enterprises
specialize in growth of cereals and sugar beet and animal husbandry.
Among industry branches light industry and processing industry are the
most developed.

Passengers transportation — by OEC “ATP 12349”. Also transportation
of the passengers of the district is performed by private taxis.
Passengers transportation is performed on 29 bus routes including 1
town, 18 suburban and 10 interurban. Daily on the line goes from 15 to
23 autocars out of 39 present. Total length of mentioned routes is 952
km. All settlements of Boguslav district are occupied with constant bus
communication.
Railway connection.
There is a south-west railway on the territory of the District. The length of the track — 17 km
International airport Boruspil.

Water supply and sewerage systems of the District are served by the
communal enterprise “Bogyslavteplovodopostachannya” — 4700 consumers or
7,6 thousands of persons.

Two pipelines of gas main line “Urengoy — Pomary-Uzhgorod” (28 km
length, pipe diameter 1,4m) run through the District. Also there are
branches to Myronivka — 4,5 km, Vilhivets — 2,9 km, Medvyn — 2,9 km.
The owner of those pipelines is “Transgaz of Ukraine”.
Wire and cellular connection
Telecommunication systems in the District are represented by the
Center of electric communication № 11, which includes 20 district and 1
local ATE, tele radio station “Bogyslav”, mobile net “Kievstar” and
UMC.

The heating of the District is provided by 32 boiler rooms, which belong to the organizations of different forms ownership.

Colourful nature of boguslav district , Ros river with huge number of rapids may attract devotees of water tourism.
Light industry development
For revival of traditional folk art and folk art industries in
Ukraine in the District a workshop of artistic weaving “Roksolana” is
created and active, a constant-acting salon of realization of
production of masters of decorative-applied arts is opened, teaching
classes of pottery and weaving on basis of arts school of town Boguslav
are opened, a Museum of modern decorative applied arts is opened.
Construction materials production
There are depositsa of gray perforate granite. There are three open
casts on the territory of Boguslav district.
Also there are many deposits of clay, which is used for production of
building brick, and sands. At the moment there are two active brick
plants in the District. At the beginning of 90-s worked two more brick
plants of agricultural enterprises (v. Medvyn and v.Biyivtsy).
